Projektbeskrivning

Local and regional distribution trucks with predictable routes over moderate distances are good candidates for electrification. In most studies, Battery Electric Trucks (BET) only consume power from the electric grid. However, with bidirectional charging – known as Vehicle2Grid for cars and thus Truck2Grid in this project – the BETs become an active resource in the power grid, alleviating the problems with high-power charging and providing additional revenues coupled to arbitrage trading and the provision of system services. This has proven to be economically advantageous in the only study we found on bidirectional charging for trucks. In this project, we will assess three different charging scenarios, namely uncoordinated, smart and Truck2Grid charging, considering not only the implications from the electric power grid, but also the potential changes that can be applied to the transport and logistic operations to maximise the overall benefit when bidirectional charging is introduced.
